Veroi vs Zoom AI

Zoom AI Companion only works in Zoom, only runs when your IT admin allows it, and only stores data the way Zoom decides. Veroi runs everywhere, for everyone, under your control.

01 — PLATFORM LOCK

Zoom AI lives or dies with Zoom.

If your day has one platform in it, that's fine. Most days have four.

Zoom AI Companion is a Zoom feature. It works in Zoom Meetings, Zoom Phone, and Zoom Team Chat. It does not work when you jump to Google Meet for a customer call, pivot to Teams for a client review, take a Webex call with a partner, or run a Slack huddle with your team. A typical week has all of those.

Veroi is platform-agnostic by architecture — it captures system audio at the OS level, so the meeting tool doesn't matter. One note-taker, one archive, one brain, across every call your calendar can throw at it. Including the in-person ones.

02 — ADMIN DEPENDENCY

Zoom AI needs permission you might not have.

Zoom AI Companion is off by default at the account level. To use it, your IT admin has to enable it for your group, agree to Zoom's AI data processing terms on your behalf, and often configure per-meeting policies. In large orgs, that's months. In regulated orgs, it's never.

Veroi is an install-and-go Mac app. There is no admin gate because there is no shared cloud to administer — it's a single Personal license, self-contained on your own Mac. You can get value on day one without waiting for Legal.

03 — DATA RESIDENCY

Veroi's data residency is your laptop.

Zoom's AI Companion runs in Zoom's cloud, subject to whatever regional processing Zoom has configured for your tenant. That's usually fine for internal meetings. It gets complicated fast for EU customers working with US vendors, for HIPAA use, or for any scenario involving cross-border data flow. You end up having a long conversation with Legal about where Zoom processes what, and updating it every time Zoom changes their subprocessor list.

Veroi doesn't have a subprocessor list. The data lives on the Mac that recorded it. GDPR, HIPAA, SOC 2 evidence requests all reduce to "here is the laptop." That's not a legal strategy; it's an architectural fact.

04 — PRICING MODEL

Zoom AI is bundled, not earned.

Zoom AI Companion is included at no extra charge on paid Zoom plans — which sounds free, until you realise you can't turn it on without the Zoom license, and you're locked into Zoom's AI quality and roadmap. If the feature stalls, your meeting intelligence stalls with it. Veroi is unbundled: one purchase, no dependency on your conferencing bill.

Your meeting tool shouldn't decide where your intelligence lives.

FREQUENTLY ASKED

Questions we get about this switch.

Can I use both — Zoom AI for quick recaps, Veroi for everything else?
Technically yes, but most users find the split confusing. Veroi covers Zoom meetings perfectly well; running both means two archives and two sources of truth. Consolidation is usually the right move after a week.
Does Veroi work with Zoom Phone and webinars?
Yes. Anything that plays audio on your Mac is captured. Zoom Phone via Continuity, Zoom Webinars from the attendee side, Zoom Rooms audio from a connected Mac — all covered.
What happens to my Zoom AI history if I switch?
Zoom lets you export AI-generated recaps as text — keep those wherever you store reference docs. Veroi doesn't import existing recap history; it starts cleanly from your next call. From there, every Zoom (or Meet, Teams, Webex) call you take is captured locally and lands in the Veroi archive automatically.
